At Purple Jacket we believe there is more to clothes maintenance than drycleaning. To keep your favorite clothing and accessory items in mint condition, follow these useful tips:

1. As soon as you receive your drycleaning, be sure to remove the plastic and hang the garment to prevent creases from forming.

2. It's a good idea to dryclean soiled items before storing as moths are attracted to food and dirt stains. Don't store clothes in plastic bags as this can cause mildew and discoloration - the best place for storage is in a wardrobe.

3. To remove wrinkles, spritz the garment lightly with water and hang in a doorway. Alternatively, naturally steam the wrinkles out by hanging the item in the shower and running hot water for a short time.

4. If you have been caught in the rain don't hang your wet clothes in front of a heater, as this can cause shrinkage.

5. When handwashing woollen garments do not pull, wring or rub as wool is weakened when wet. Simply lay the item on a towel, roll it up and gently squeeze the water out.

6. If you get lipstick or other oil-based products on a garment, don't try to get it off yourself - have it drycleaned in the first instance.

7. Paint the centre of each button on your garments with clear nail polish, which will seal the threads and help to keep buttons in place much longer.

8. Use an old stocking as a glove to brush and revitalise suede garments.

9. Give shoes with leather soles extra mileage by having them soled with rubber immediately after purchase and polishing them regularly.

10. Rubbing leather shoes and handbags with a leather protectant will soften and safeguard the leather.
